It’s back! It’s back! My blog is back!!!!!!! It’s been three looooooooong weeks since my server went crazy and I began this downward spiral into blog oblivion that ended with my blog ceasing to exist. TERRIFYING!!!! I was in tears at multiple points over the past three weeks.
You may not have noticed my online absence, or you may be thinking I’m being over dramatic, but this blog is so much more than just a hobby for me. It has documented both of my pregnancies, my babies’ births and all of the developmental milestones of BOTH of my girls, as well as lot of other really fun moments. No other medium in my life has this information!! Not baby books, not journals, not even iPhoto!
I did have several backups of my blog on my computer, so I knew that none of the information was ever lost, but it was still horribly uncomfortable knowing that it wasn’t safe and sound on a remote server somewhere.
Anyhow, I have a lot of catching up to do, but before I get to that, I need to give a big shout out to a wonderful online service I found, People Per Hour.
After weeks of not being able to fix the problem myself, I finally gave up and admitted that I needed to find someone who knew more about servers and databases than I did. Since polling my friends and relatives turned up only a few dead leads, the wonders at Google pointed me to People Per Hour, “a marketplace connecting small businesses and freelancers all over the world in a trusted environment where they buy and sell services to each other”. It worked marvelously!
I posted my job and within hours, I received bids from freelancers all over the world. I read their proposals, considered their rates, and read reviews from their previous clients, then finally decided to accept a bid. This first individual did not end up working out (he disappeared after only doing some of the work!) but since I used People Per Hour as the go-between, I simply canceled my relationship with this freelancer and accepted a different bid. My experience with the second freelancer was amazing! He was incredibly responsive, efficient and professional and best of all, he got my blog up and running in less than 24 hours!!
I highly recommend the service if you need to find a freelancer—in ANY field! I’m even considering signing up as a freelancer, to bid on design work!
If you want a specific recommendation for the freelancer I worked with, just shoot me an email and I will gladly pass along his information.
And now…

Yay congratulations! I’m so happy you’re back and that everything to sorted out.
