It’s official. Halloween is twice the fun when you have two kiddos!
Adelaide has been really into Tinker Bell lately. If you’ve been out of the “kid universe” for a while, let me get you up to speed.
Tinker Bell has moved on from Peter Pan and has her own entire franchise, which currently includes four movies (a fifth one is due out in Spring 2014). Tinker Bell lives in Pixie Hollow (in Neverland) and is a member of the Tinker talent fairies. Fairies come in many talents—there are garden fairies, animal fairies, healing fairies, frost fairies, light fairies, fast-flying (aka wind) fairies, water fairies, etc. Tinker fairies build all of the gadgets that the other fairies use to complete their jobs—to make the season’s change. Make sense now? Anyhow, it’s all very cute and Matt and I are totally on board with Adelaide’s current roll model being a girl who builds things for a living.
Naturally, Adelaide HAD to be Tinker Bell for Halloween. I tried to nudge her in the direction of generic tinker fairy, but everytime I call her Tinker Adelaide she corrects me and says, “No mommy! I’m Tinker BELL!”. Sorry honey, my mistake!
I decided to stick to the fairy theme and dress Cadence as a little flower fairy. I have to say, both costumes turned out great! Adelaide’s was store-bought, the only thing we constructed was attaching the white poms to her shoes. Cadence’s costume was created from a store-bought skirt and wings, matched with items we already had on hand, and one hand-made headband. I loved the final result!
Trick-or-treating was fun, though not as much fun as last year, when Adelaide got to trick-or-treat with her bestie, Emerson. Moving away from friends is so hard! Adelaide still seemed to enjoy her time “outside in the dark” with mommy, daddy, and Cadence, knocking on doors, and saying “trick or treat!”. She really had the hang of it this year!
Cadence just hung-out in the stroller with mommy—I think walking is a prerequisite to trick-or-treating.
Adelaide made out with a good little stash of candy, which she is now asking for at every opportunity. I may, or may not, have bribed her with candy to take a nap today…desperate times, people!
Hope you had a super fun Halloween!
