Halloween seems to get more and more fun as our girls get older. This year we painted and carved pumpkins, baked pumpkin pie, ate spooky snacks, enjoyed a festive dinner and trick-or-treated our hearts out. All-in-all, a very successful Halloween! Here are photos from our day!

The night before Halloween…

The girls wore these adorable skirts my mom made. They were pretty excited about them 🙂

Cadence’s pumpkin was too small to carve, so she painted hers. Adelaide helped me paint our Teal Pumpkin—did you participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project? I’d love to know! It was very popular in our neighborhood.

Adelaide wanted a Hello Kitty pumpkin, so Matt rose to the challenge! No holiday in the Bauer household would be complete without the unnecessary (but oh so fun!) use of technology to complete relatively simple tasks. This year, we employed a projector to project the Hello Kitty face onto Adelaide’s pumpkin. Then colored in the lines with marker, before carving them out. I have to admit, it was a lot faster and more accurate than simply drawing it on from a reference image.

Adelaide was allll about cleaning out the pumpkins this year. Cadence didn’t want anything to do with that slime.

Halloween morning…

Adelaide came down with a virus on Tuesday, but by Friday she was all better, so it was off to school she went! The school had a costume parade first thing that morning, followed by classroom parties. Adelaide’s kindergarten class party theme was a “Fruit Bat” party. everyone brought fruit to share. The kids learned about bats all week so it was the perfect end to an educational and fun week.

After the party, the children changed out of their costumes and the instructional day began.

Cadence looooooved going to school with her sister, even if it was only for two hours.

Halloween Afternoon…

Cadence helped me bake a pumpkin pie.

There were spooky snacks waiting for Adelaide when she got home from school.

Then Adelaide painted her Hello Kitty pumpkin.

The girls were very sweet, and humored me with an evening photo session in their costumes!

Then it was back inside for a very spooky dinner! We had mummy meatloaf, black rice and orange (sweet potato) fries.

    

When dinner was done, it was finally dark enough to light up our pumpkins…

and go

TRICK-OR-TREATING!!

When we returned home there was only a small handful of candy and toys left! SUCCESS!!

The girls were wiped out after running around for an hour in the dark, so they put up very few arguments when it was time for bed. Such a great night!
