Office Overhaul: DIY Cork Board Circles

This week in the Autumn Refresh series, Joy from Frock Files and I are focusing on a DIY project in each of our rooms. In my office, I’m sharing a DIY cork board.

These darling little cork circles are intended to be trivets—a place to set hot pots and pans in your kitchen. Confession…I’ve been using them as cork boards in my home for the past six years!

My current office is no exception, only now, in their fourth home, they’re looking a little tired and worn down. Yes, for $1 each, I could replace them for almost nothing, but I decided to give them a facelift instead.

I’d love to claim credit for this idea, but I’m pretty sure I saw it on Pinterest a few years ago. Regardless, the idea is awesome, and I’m happy to share how I did it.

Supplies

HEAT cork trivets
Fabric
Glue gun
Scissors

Step 1

Cut the fabric to size. You can cut it into a circle, or just leave it as a square, like I did.

Step 2

Using your hot glue gun, lay down small beads of glue and pull the fabric tight then press down on the glue. Start with four opposite sides of the circle, then glue in-between. Be sure to stretch the fabric tight!

Step 3

Cut off the excess fabric from the back of the cork circle.

Step 4

Hang on the wall and enjoy! I used Command Picture Hanging Strips (because we’re renting) but in the past I’ve used wire staples and a hammer, which created a really nice industrial look.
