Over the weekend, we gave Cadence her first experience with solid food!
The people who know (aka American Association of Pediatrics) say to introduce solids sometime between four and six months. We introduced Adelaide to solids right when she hit the four month mark, but with Cadence we weren’t in any hurry…so we waited. I’m not sure it makes any difference, but that’s what we did.
Adelaide’s first food was rice cereal (very traditional) but for Cadence’s I went with sweet potatoes! I guess the AAP has decided that it doesn’t seem to matter what baby’s first food is, just as long as they start learning how to eat from a spoon. No boring rice cereal for this kiddo!
It was so much fun feeding Cadence from a spoon! It’s one of those things that I didn’t realize I missed, until I got to do it again. She seemed to do really well with it! She made a couple of faces and spit out more than she ate, but overall, she surprised me with how quickly she figured out how to open her mouth when I brought the spoon up. Not bad, little one.
Here are some adorable pictures and of course, a video, of our little monkey eating her first solid food!
