Adelaide’s First Fishing Trip

Adelaide’s road trip to southern Utah is sure to be the highlight of her summer! Besides doing AM-A-ZING on the 10-hour drive, she also kicked some serious tail in her first ever fishing trip!

They fished both days she was there and she caught six fish total! Wow! I think I’ve caught six fish in my entire life! haha! Great Grandpa Walt sent her home with her very own fishing pole and she’s already asking to use it…in the backyard…

How to Go Fishing

First you get in the boat, and then Daddy holds the rope on the dock so everyone else can get in. Then you have to go find a fishing spot where the water is dark blue. Then you put the anchor in the water, so you stay in the fishing spot.

Then you put stinky sparkly play dough on the hook and put the hook in the water. Then you wait, like 20 minutes, until your fishing pole bends. You have to hold your fishing pole the whole time. Then you pull back your pole and reel in on your way down. You have to do that a lot of times. You have to pull the fish in carefully.

When you see the fish in the water, then you can scoop it up with the net. Then you hold the fish in a towel because it’s slimy and slippery, and you don’t want it to slip out of your hand. Then you use a poker to push it in and pull the hook out of the fish. And then you put the fish in an ice box. That’s how you go fishing!
