I’m so excited to be starting this post series, Autumn Refresh, with my friend Joy, from Frock Files! She and I share a love of hot tea, cozy mornings, and beautiful spaces, among many other things 🙂

I’ve been wanting to work with Joy on a blog project for quite some time, so when she suggested a room makeover, I was immediately on board. Joy has an incredible eye for decorating. I loved all of the little vignettes she set up around her home in Portland—art grouping here, collectables there, and the softest, coziest textures in just the right places!

For this post series, Joy and I each chose a room in our home that’s been a little neglected—my third room (office/guest room) and her master bedroom. We’re reclaiming these spaces, making them beautiful, fun and functional, and giving you a front row seat to the whole process.

Challenges

This room has two functions—office and guest room. It’s primary use will be as an office, but we frequently (6+times/year) have overnight guests, and I DON’T want them to feel like they’re sleeping in an office.

Second, this is a rental property with strict restrictions around painting and holes in the walls, which doesn’t leave me a lot of freedom when it comes to decor.

The last big requirement for my office overhaul, is that it has to have a space for my girls. I have limited working hours each day, and if Cadence decides she’s only napping for one hour instead of two, I need to have a child-safe area in my office where she can play, while I finish up my computer-based projects.

I’m excited to say, that my office overhaul is already underway and my challenges are being met! Check back every Wednesday this month to see the progress!
