I don’t typically make a lot of kid specific food (I expect Adelaide to eat what we eat, within reason) but when I saw a picture of these I had to give them a try!
There’s nothing healthy about them, but I think the excitement and entertainment value for kids is worth something 🙂 Plus they’re super easy! And, as opposed to traditional corn dogs, you can control the quality and type of “dog” your kids are eating.
- 1 pkg. “JIFFY” Corn Muffin Mix
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup milk (or milk alternative)
- 1-2 hotdogs
- Depending on the age of your kids, you can either cut the hotdogs into fourths (pictured), or tiny non-choking hazard pieces.
- If you’re using hotdog fourths, prepare the muffin mix according to the directions, and divide among muffin cups. Then insert hot dog piece into the center of each muffin and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
- If you choose the non-choking hazard method, cut up your hot dog(s) and mix the pieces into the muffin mix. Then pour the batter into your muffin cups and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
Delicious and fun! Adelaide ate THREE (!!??!) and Cadence ate the better part of two muffins. Matt and I each enjoyed one too! It was a fun little Sunday afternoon lunch. I’ve added this to my kid-friendly recipe box. 😉
