We had a whirlwind weekend! It started Friday when we drove from Portland to Sacramento, attended a family reunion with my side of the family on Saturday and half of Sunday, then drove another hour south to visit Matt’s family Sunday afternoon, and finally drove back to Portland Sunday night, arriving home at 6:30am. Whew!
Adelaide had an absolute BLAST meeting all of her family, playing with her “cousins” (actually my cousins, but who’s keeping track) and swimming in the pool. The weather was incredible—105+! We were hot, to say the least, but it was so nice to be hot and dry for a change. We spent almost the entire day outside and escaped with only minor sunburns, which I consider to be a huge victory!
We were incredibly lucky to get to spend Father’s day with every father and grandfather we have! Adelaide and Cadence got to spend the day with their dad, I got to see my dad and grandfather, and Matt got to see his dad and grandfather. When you consider that we live 600 – 2,400 miles away from our parents and grandparents, it makes this Father’s Day even more special.
The girls handled all of the traveling EXCEPTIONALLY WELL! Seriously, it blew our minds. It wasn’t easy, on any of us, but in our opinion, they did remarkably well for their ages. We won’t be driving 1,200 miles in 72 hours again any time soon, but it’s nice to know that we could do it with minimal discomfort.
Hope you had a lovely Father’s Day!
