When you live in Portland (or anywhere in the pacific northwest) you learn very quickly that sunshine doesn’t necessarily mean warm weather. Today, for instance, was gorgeously sunny, but only 45 degrees!
Now, I’ll brave the park in 45 degree weather with the best of the Portland mamas, but sometimes, I just want to enjoy the sunshine from my 68 degree living room.
Today was one of those days, so I pulled out an activity I’d been thinking about for a while. I call it:
Hair Salon at Home
Adelaide is always very interested when I’m doing my hair and makeup in the mornings. And for a nearly-three-year-old, she has an incredible amount of hair, which requires styling every day. So between the two of us, there is always a lot of hair-doing going on. Still though, the gadgets I use on my hair are a thing of wonder to her, so I got out some of them and set up a little hair salon in our living room.
I brought out a cape (from the days when I cut Matt’s hair), a big hair brush, a little hair brush, two combs, a couple of head bands, hair claws, clips, pins, bands and the pièce de résistance, the blow dryer.
I thought it would work best if I played the part of the stylist first, so she had an example of how to play the game, but all Adelaide wanted to do was explore that blow dryer! She had so much fun watching the air blow my hair around. haha!
She did eventually brush my hair and put some claws and headbands in it, but mostly it was the blow drying. Since it was so cold today, I definitely didn’t mind all the warm air!
I'd love to hear what you think!
