Café au Play is a WONDERFUL little coffee shop in SE Portland that caters to tiny humans. They’re a nonprofit organization that has really excelled in creating a safe and stimulating space for children to play while their adult counterparts sit comfortably nearby enjoying a hot beverage. There are so many places in Portland that claim to do this, but in reality, fail miserably. I gladly make the 10 mile/20 minute drive out to SE Portland to support this wonderful establishment.
In addition to providing a great space, they also frequently have events. Last week, completely by accident, we showed up and found Dingo Dizmal and Olive Rootbeer reading/singing with the kids. Ha! I had/have no idea who these folks are, but they were having fun and so were the kids, and that’s what counts.
Adelaide was enthralled, but much too shy to want to go and sit up front where all the action was. It always surprises me when she has these shy moments, because most of the time she’ll talk about her life to anyone who will listen. Eventually, though, she got brave and went and sat near the rest of the kids.
Here are some pictures from the story-hour day as well as a few other visits we’ve made.
If you’re int he area, you should definitely pay them a visit!
I'd love to hear what you think!
