Well, I missed my self-imposed weekly deadline for a blog update, but better late than never! Here are some of the events from last week:
Sunday: Bridal Shower
Last Sunday I attended a former coworker and friend’s bridal shower. It was a wonderful afternoon! Here are some photos from the event (notice the baby bump!)
Wednesday: Matt’s Birthday!
Matt’s birthday was extra low key this year. He got to take a half-day from work, and spent his afternoon exactly how he wanted—on the couch playing his new video game. I took Adelaide to the park for the afternoon so he had a nice quiet house, all to himself! Then later that night, while I cooked up a birthday dinner, Matt and Adelaide played with one of his birthday gifts—the Angry Birds: Knock on Wood game. It was a wonderful, quiet day!
Thursday: Nothin’ special
On Thursday, I took Adelaide to our favorite indoor play area: Munchkin Playland. After her nap, we took the car through a much needed car wash. Then showed up early to pick Matt up from work, and spent the extra time walking around campus, enjoying the beautiful summer weather!
Saturday: Water fun!
Saturday was the first 90+ degree day in Portland in 2011! It was actually 94! Matt was an angel and installed our window AC units (so I didn’t die!) and in spite of the heat, Adelaide and I spent some time outside!
We’ve been trying to get her to enjoy her sprinkler ball all summer (she hates getting water on her face) and Saturday was the day the decided to like it! The sprinkler ball was followed by milkshakes, and that night was her very first ever bubble bath!
We’ve avoided bubbles because of her baby eczema and other sensitive skin issues, but she seems to have outgrown most of them. So, armed with Extra Gentle Mr. Bubble, Adelaide got to enjoy all the wondrous excitement of a bubble bath.
Sunday: More water fun!
After our plans to attend a wedding were canceled, we tried to make the most of our suddenly free day and made a family trip to Jamison Square Fountain. Adelaide and I have been here many times this summer (as you know!) but this was the first time Matt got to go! He had a lot of fun with Adelaide in the water, and Adelaide LLOOOOVVVEEDDD having her daddy there.
That’s all for now! Stay tuned for a pregnancy update: second trimester stats, highs and woes.
I'd love to hear what you think!
