Adelaide has been INSISTING on feeding herself with her spoon these days. As a mom, I feel so proud, watching my baby learn a new skill! As Heather, I cringe and break out in cold sweats watching her make the biggest mess ever. Not wanting to restrict her exploration or learning, but NEEDING a break from all the post-meal-clean-up, I decided to make a peanut butter play dough as part of her lunch today!
There are lots of recipes for peanut butter play dough, but here are the two most popular:
Recipe #1:
- 1/2 cup Peanut Butter
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 1/2 cup honey
Recipe #2:
- Equal parts cornstarch and peanut butter
I didn’t have any powdered milk on hand, so I used recipe number two.
(The blueberries were sprinkled on her tray so she had
something juicy to munch on while she played!)
It turned out great! The dough came together quickly (I used half-a-cup of peanut butter in my batch, and we only ended up using half of it). I sprinkled her highchair tray with cornstarch, and plopped a ball of dough down on it. I didn’t have any baby-safe cookie cutters, so I got out some bowls and lids and gave those to her to play with.
She had a blast! And it didn’t make that big of a mess! Win-Win!
I'd love to hear what you think!
