We’re changing our baby’s name
It’s been almost fifteen weeks, and the name “Emery” just hasn’t settled in to our liking. Three weeks ago, on the drive to work, Matt asked me, “So are you still in love with the name, Emery?” To which I immediately answered, “Of course! Yes! It’s the most amazing name ever!” but secretly, I’d been having doubts for weeks. On paper, Emery is an amazing name. I love it so much! There are so many things about it that are perfect…it has three syllables, it starts with a vowel, it has a musical reference, it’s uncommon but not unpronounceable…I could go on and on… but...

Since we’re still enjoying some GORGEOUS weather, I thought I’d end the week with a picture of two things that make me happy—Adelaide and this adorable headband! Flower Corsage Headband by Crazy...

When you live in Portland (or anywhere in the pacific northwest) you learn very quickly that sunshine doesn’t necessarily mean warm weather. Today, for instance, was gorgeously sunny, but only 45 degrees! Now, I’ll brave the park in 45 degree weather with the best of the Portland mamas, but sometimes, I just want to enjoy the sunshine from my 68 degree living room. Today was one of those days, so I pulled out an activity I’d been thinking about for a while. I call it: Hair Salon at Home Adelaide is always very interested when I’m doing my hair and makeup in the...
Read MoreThe Play Boutique
Beaverton’s newest indoor play space! The Play Boutique has been in Lake Oswego for years, and they just opened a second location in the Progress Ridge shopping center in Beaverton. They’re a lot more than just an indoor play space—they also have a cafe, a restaurant, a school and mommy-and-me classes. So far, I’ve only checked out the play space and cafe. What I love This place is HUGE! They have a FULL SIZE play structure INSIDE! And it doesn’t even take up the whole place!! It’s big enough that they have a ton of little scooters and cars and they can...

I mentioned in her 3-month-old post that Emery has figured out how to get her thumb into her mouth, so I wanted to follow up with some pictures!! AHH! So Cute! Can’t stand it!!!

I love decorating. I love it so much, that I’m never satisfied with a room for very long—I am constantly redecorating. Adelaide’s room has been redecorated three times…in two years! I’m not exaggerating even a little…just ask Matt. My favorite interior style is mid-century modern and I LOOOOOOVE that this style has been extended to the littlest members of our family! Here are my picks for modern mamas: 1. Duet bunk bed by Nursery Works 2. Mini-e lounge chair by Little Nest 3. Eames Molded Plastic Rocking Chair by Herman Miller 4. Mini Library by...
Read MoreEmery’s first giggles!!
Tonight, about an hour before bedtime, Emery and I were hanging out on the couch with Adelaide and she started fussing. So I tried to cheer her up. I guess it worked because she started laughing!! Her very first real giggles!! Matt heard it from the other room and ran in to catch it on camera. Her laughter is such a sweet sound! I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do!! Video: Emery’s first...
Read MoreA big girl bed for Adelaide
Saturday, February 18th was Adelaide’s last night in her crib. The very next morning, after breakfast, Matt started assembly on her new bed. Just after lunch it was finished and ready for the big reveal! Video: Big Girl Bed Surprise! I wish her enthusiasm translated to an easy and smooth transition to the new bed, but alas, IT DID NOT. She attempted her first nap in the new bed that afternoon and I think she got out of bed 2668409309821 times before I gave up and put her back in her crib, where she screamed until she finally passed out. Ugh, MISERABLE! That night wasn’t any...
